Have you felt like punching a Koala in the face today?
"Norsefire writes to mention a Register piece reporting that early adopters are having a tough time with Karmic Koala, Ubuntu's latest release. "Ubuntu 9.10 is causing outrage and frustration, with early adopters wishing they'd stuck with previous versions of the Linux distro. Blank and flickering screens, failure to recognize hard drives, defaulting to the old 2.6.28 Linux kernel, and failure to get encryption running are taking their toll, as early adopters turn to the web for answers and log fresh bug reports in Ubuntu forums." Whas has been your experience if you've moved to Karmic?"
http://linux.slashdot.org/story/09/11/03/2211231/Some-Early-Adopters-Stung-By-Ubuntus-Karmic-Koala?from=rss While I usually backup and clean install when the latest Ubuntu comes out, I usually don't have any problems with it. I will say that I had a small issue with the installer crashing, but I managed to get past it and install the latest release. Everything pretty much worked out of the box for me (thank goodness). Luckily its been that way for the past few releases for me. Different results for you? Head on over to slashdot and add your 2 cents of geek, and try not to start a flame war in the process.
